But in the US at least, younger—and more likely to be single—people say they’re using the social network less.
While many dating apps have relied on Facebook data for years—like to show you when a potential match has mutual friends—they’ve never been able to leverage everything.
You can also report and block users with the same tools available elsewhere on the social network.
In May, for example, Tinder said it was testing a new feature called Places, which allows users to match with people who like to hang out at the same spots, like bars, restaurants, or clubs.
The product relies on information from Foursquare, rather than Facebook.
It’s these sorts of features that really stand to differentiate Facebook Dating from competitors.
By utilizing the trove of data it already has about users, Facebook has the ability to become a powerful player in the online dating space.
